It's Christmas in the Roland house!

We have a tree! This is the first time we've ever put a tree up...we don't have a topper yet or a tree skirt, and it's pretty plain, but we like things that way!

Cute pic of J and Daddy:

'Sup homies?

Mmmmmm cereal!

And a question for my mommy friends: Do you (or did you) let your baby cry him/herself to sleep for naps and during the night? I'm working on this with Jeremiah and as much as I hate it I feel like it's necessary to let him figure out how to fall asleep on his own. Daddy hates it, of course, but he's not the one getting up w/ baby in the middle of the night. Post either your thoughts, your success stories, or whatever so Shawn will maybe not hate it as much.

YES! with a nap schedule at 10 weeks old lily was sleeping 10 hrs a night...later it was 13 hours. naps were a struggle and i hated the crying but it was worth it. it helped her nights to go better and she learned early how to soothe herself. hang in there!

FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only way you're going to break him of waking up in the middle of the night is to let him cry it out. It might take a week, but he'll soothe himself to sleep eventually...or just wear himself out and fall asleep.

All of my kids were sleeping at least 10 hours a night by 8 weeks. Faith sleeps 11-13 hours every night. She doesn't like her naps as much and will cry for a few minutes when I put her down. Find something to distract you, so you won't be sitting there listening to the tears. If J wakes up screaming, you should try and leave him for awhile, he might fall back asleep.

If you don't work really hard on this now, you'll REALLY pay for it later. My neighbor's 2-year-old still wakes up 1-2 time every night. NO WAY MAN!!! Have you read Baby Wise? Really worked for me. Hope this helps. :)

P.S. Is J sleeping in his own room? That always helps! ;)

Well, you know that I'm not big into rigid scheduling or crying it out at a very early age, but I think he's a perfect age to start crying himself to sleep. Remember that no baby in the world has cried "forever" but at the same time listen to your instincts and decide ahead of time how long you'll let him cry for. Sometimes 15 minutes can seem like an eternity when in reality it is very short.

I love your tree...it's beautiful. I feel your pain about letting J cry it out....I hated that part...but it worked. And...usually at the same time she was crying....I was crying too. I would keep myself as busy as possible so I wasn't just sitting and listening to her cry. My prayers are with you.
