Today we visited our friends Kim and Lily today! Kim took some pictures of me and J. We had a good time!
Lily didn't really want to be pictured w/ Jeremiah, she was more interested looking at the camera with her mommy.
Ladies, look at that face. I know I'm biased but he is adorable.

First cereal!
Jeremiah had his first taste of rice cereal tonight. I wanted to hold off on solids for awhile, but he's been waking up every 3 hours at night and eating...he's so active the doctor said he's probably not getting enough during the day. (He eats a lot during the day, too!)
First bite...
Mmm, my fingers taste good! (We kept having to take his hands out of his mouth. It was a two person job!)
What is this thing in my mouth.
These pictures do not do the mess justice. I think out of the tablespoon (plus 3 oz milk) we fed him, maybe 1/2 of it made it into his mouth. Maybe 1/2 of that, he actually ate. By the end, though, he was kind of attacking the spoon and slurping up the cereal. We're going to give it another try tomorrow!

Piggyback rides...
These are so cute.
Now since this whole 'recall' for Bumbos (or basically a recall so they can put a bigger warning label on them not to use them on raised surfaces), I've been keeping an eye on J when he's in it. This morning he was leaning waaay over the side. So I had to put him on the kitchen floor while I got things ready. He seemed confused.

4 month check up!
So our pumpkin is 13lbs 11.5oz, and 25.5"! He's the 25th percentile for weight and 75th for height, LOL. He's long and skinny. The doc said we could start cereal anytime during this month, we'll see how he's doing. He was a trooper with his shots, of course he cried, but fell asleep and is still napping.
Here's some pics we took the other day:
I love the look he's giving Shawn here...

Playgroup
Today we hung out with our friends Mariann, Karson, Kim and Lily. We had fun! Jeremiah loves seeing everyone, he gets so sick of staring at mommy all day!
Plus Mariann let's J sleep in this swing that, well, I want to borrow for my next baby. Heck, I want one for myself!! Who wouldn't want to sleep in this thing?
And just a goofy pic of my boy. He's getting so big!
Also, please pray for our friends, Kim, Cory, Lily and Grandma. They are heading to Cali for a wedding this weekend. Pray they have a safe trip and don't encounter any problems or delays due to the fires.

Prayers please...
Shawn's Dad and his wife Karen live in California, in Orange County (I think, Shawn can correct me if I'm wrong.) I'm sure you've all heard about the fires, and they're basically waiting around to be evacuated. Karen has two children and I'm not sure if they're with them.
These are the pics that they sent us today. Please keep them (and everyone else that has to be evacuated) in your prayers. Jeremiah and I prayed for everyone this morning but didn't realize that we had family that might be affected by this.
I can't imagine how scary this is for them, facing possible loss of almost everything you own, especially your home.

Trip to the zoo!
Today we went to the zoo with friends. Jeremiah had a GREAT time...
But I got some good animal pics:
And Wyland was there. How cool! If you don't know who he is, he's a muralist. He paints marine life, whales, dolphins, etc. You should google him to see some of his work. This is a BIG DEAL for me, I LOOOOOOOVED his paintings when I was younger (ie a teenager). He was doing a mural and letting children paint with him for his 'clean water challenge.' It was so cool!
The mural:
The artist himself:
Now for some silly pics of of J. He's never taken a paci, but lately he'll keep it in his mouth for longer than 2 seconds. He seems to find it funny, he always smiles when it's in his mouth.
Look at that drool!!

Our first date!
Well, at least since Jeremiah was born. For the record, he'll be four months old on Saturday...so, yes, we (I) was a bit nervous to leave him with anyone. But we had a gift card for On the Border, so grandma and grandpa came over and babysat. I thought Jeremiah would be out of control, considering he didn't take any morning nap and pretty much only slept for 45 minutes in the afternoon. But they said he was alright.
I didn't call and check on him at all! Amazing.
Grandma and Baby G
Shawn and I ready for a night out! We left the house about 4pm, decided we weren't hungry yet, so went to Barnes and Noble and wandered around. I discovered the "Runaway Bunny" book I purchased for $1.99 at the Borders outlet store was selling there for $7.99! Go me, a great deal and one of my FAVORITE books from when I was little. After looking at other books, we decided to get dinner. We were home at 6pm. TWO WHOLE HOURS!!
And just a crazy picture.

J's famous! (for now)
So I loved that picture of J in his bumbo with his hat on, and I submitted it to azcentral.com for their 'kid pics' for October. Don't you know they put him on the home page?!? Shawn said: "Do you want the computer?" and there's my baby looking at me from the home page. Awwww!
If you want to see it, go to azcentral.com and scroll down to "Arizona Moms." J's picture was there tonight, maybe it will be up a little longer!
And, in case you don't believe me...
I know this isn't exciting as Katie's Natalie Portman post, but I can't help it.

Bloggin with the baby
So here I sit, waiting for Shawn to get home from work with J sitting in his bumbo on the table with me. He keeps throwing his new rattle on the ground. Nice.
Here's a new video of him. Warning...it goes on about 30 seconds longer than I intended it to. Somewhere lost in my brain is the knowlege of how to stop recording a video on my camera, I guess.

Whoops!
So, I put J in the pack and play the other day while I answered an email. He's usually good in there by himself for maybe 10-15 minutes, then he gets into trouble. See what I mean?
That's the mobile from the pack and play. It's supposed to be above the baby, not on top of him! Somehow he used his feet (I think) to pull it down. He didn't cry so I didn't even realize it until I looked up from the computer to see the mobile missing.
Now Jeremiah really wants to sit up on his own. And stand on his own, but he doesn't really get the balance thing yet. So we're working with him. (for the record, he recently learned to roll from his tummy to his back- yay! he can roll from his back to his tummy but then he'd get stuck and get really frustrated and wake me up.)
And, just a picture of those beautiful blue eyes! I love this picture so much.

Jammies and a REALLY cute baby

We are crazy.
Why? Well, we decided to explore the Apache Trail (AZ 88) today with a teething 3 month old. We left at 9am and got home at 4pm. Jeremiah was crying...well, a lot of the time. It was a beautiful drive, and I really enjoyed it when J wasn't screaming his head off.
We stopped briefly at the 'Lost Dutchman' State Park, but didn't pay the $5 to get in because of a (not for long) sleeping baby. Here's a pic of the Superstition Mountains:
The first lake we saw was Canyon lake. It was very low and closed off to boating.
The drive had lots of 1-lane bridges. It reminded me of the road to Hana in Maui, only not as scary.
22 miles of the road was unpaved. It was really bumpy, like it had been paved and they just let it go. Jeremiah slept through most of it, thank goodness. I was in the backseat w/ the baby, so I missed some of the views, but what I did see was incredible! The drops off the side were really steep and scary. Shawn did a great job driving!
J and I on the side of the road somewhere:
Then we found Roosevelt lake (see the road, all dirt? FUN!)
Here we are at Roosevelt Dam (that's when the pavement came back, Thank goodness!)
And here's some bridge - this picture was taken from "Inspiration Point: Interpretive Spot" or something like that.
We were all happy to get home. Me especially. I don't know any mom that doesn't hate to hear her baby cry.
