Or at least I hope so! Things are going good on the baby front. I am feeling good - a bit tired, my tummy feels stretched to it's limit, but other than that, alright. I am having trouble sleeping due to major numbness in my hands - which doesn't affect me during the day too much, thankfully. But when I lay down my hands feel 'asleep' in minutes and they take forever to 'wake.' It's annoying!
You definitely want to keep an eye on the blog though - Shawn has set up his phone so we can post a pic of Sweet Pea shortly after she arrives. He was able to post a pic of J 12 minutes after he was born - we're going to see if he's able to 'beat' that record. :-) And, if you have facebook, you'll know even faster - I plan on updating when we head to the hospital and after she's born. But I won't be able to post a pic there, I have no idea how to do that. (Yes, I'm like 75 years old apparently)
Yesterday Shawn came home from work early to surprise us - but we weren't there! We ran to the store to pick up some last minute stuff for dinner. When we got home, though, it was so nice to have Daddy there and he even brought roses! Aww..
J has become very helpful lately - he helps me put on my shoes. It's really sweet.
And of course once I took the picture of him helping me with my shoes, I had to take a picture of him so he could see it. Cutie!
Today (well technically yesterday as it's 330am Monday morning), Kim came over and helped me decorate Sweet Pea's room. It turned out really cute! There is another wall that has 2 shadowboxes plus a name plaque (currently blank) but I didn't take a pic since it was a bit incomplete.
Before:
After:
We (okay, Kim, I just barked orders) moved the cactus print and hung some art done by another friend, Brittany over the changing table.
Then the stickers! They technically aren't stickers because I don't know how you'd get them off the wall, but they sure were easy to put on. (I did help here)
Shot so you can see the crib better.
Kinda feel a little bad for SP - her room is clearly much smaller than J's and has less storage for clothes (he has a huge 6 drawer dresser, she only has the changing table plus a small 3 drawer dresser.) I just keep telling myself she won't really care til she's older - right?
11 days to go... :-)
Edited to add a couple more pics - here's the wall opposite the crib:
Shadowbox 1
Shadowbox 2 - I tried using stuff from the shower, cards, ribbon from the diaper cake, etc in both of them, just as a way to keep things as I'm in such a throwaway mood lately.
because I hope to fill it with pics of an adorable newborn soon! Or not. I am feeling pretty good, been cleaning like crazy, but other than that, pretty good. Had a few instances of contractions coming every 15 minutes and then me getting really excited...only to have them leave again. Ah well! God knows when she's going to come and when she's ready to be born and I just need not worry about it.
Like any other child, J loves the digital camera. When he gets bored sometimes I'll grab it and take pics of him - he loves seeing them right away. What did our parents do - I can't imagine actually waiting to see the pictures! CHEESE!
Ooops!
That's better. Such a fake smile, though.
Naughty - he knows he's not supposed to stand on it.
Here are a couple of progress pics of SP's room. We got the bed out of there, and we have a crib and changing table. Shawn will be putting things together this Saturday and Sunday I hope to decorate. Then she can come ANYTIME - you hear me in there little baby girl??
Okay, technically I may have less than 25 days or more than (though I hope not!) 25 days left before Sweet Pea makes her appearance. I'm definitely feeling 9 months pregnant, let me just say that. Chasing J around is difficult and I'm sleepy all the time. I am getting very excited though - it feels like I've been pregnant a long time but somehow the time has flown by! Shawn is excited too - the only one who isn't is J, who if you ask: "Do you want a baby sister?" replies emphatically: "No."
Ah well...he'll get used to it.
We drove to CG on Saturday so Shawn could help Ronnie with a project. On the way down we turned on some music. J really liked it. He was doing this with no prompting, I swear:
J & Grandma G
and with Grandpa G.
Then today I got a most unexpected knock at the door. It was a package from a friend in Florida. I'll try to explain how I know her, as I've never met her in person or even spoken to her on the phone. In 2006, as some of you may know, I had a miscarriage that completely broke my heart. I was hurting so bad and found a forum online for women who'd had miscarriages. Long story short, I'm still friends with about 30 of these woman - most of us have gone on to have children - some of us haven't - but they are all wonderful and smart and scattered around the world. I occasionally talk about 'the board I'm on' but don't want to seem too weird. It's just that these ladies were there with me and understood when I didn't think anyone else did. Anyways, one of my friends from the board sent this to me:
It's a diaper wreath! It's cute in pictures but adorable in person. Thank you, Karen!!
My dad, aka Dza-Dza, ("Ja-Ja") came to visit last week. He arrived on Thursday morning and left on Sunday - a quick trip but we had a great time. J really got along well with him and was sad when he left.
We met Shawn for lunch when Dza arrived. J started eating the onions off my plate. Yucky!!
J loved hanging out with Dza...
Reading,
Playing,
or relaxing!
We went to breakfast at the Farm @ South mountain.
Then we went to the top of South Mountain! Fun!
J wanted a picture of himself and his new Nemo (his latest obsession)
And then he found a box to play in!
Sunday morning, before he had to leave, Shawn, J and Dza went to the park by our house.
And Kim insisted on taking this picture because I'm 'getting so big!' Thanks, ha ha ha!
Speaking of Sweet Pea - she's due in about 4 1/2 weeks. Yikes, this pregnancy has literally flown by! I finally have washed the sheets/etc for the bassinet and some clothes. (they are in the dryer as I type this!) Her room is not done. At all. We need to get rid of the guest bed, then we'll be able to get things set up for her. So, again, if you know anyone who'd like a queen sized bed and is willing to move it, tell me!!
We took a trip to California to visit Shawn's dad, his dad's wife, Karen, Karen's children Alec and Krystal, and Shawn's grandma, Marilyn. We left Thursday night and J did great in the car...
Friday it rained almost all day so we didn't do anything. So when it was nice on Saturday morning, and we'd all been up since 3am, (yes, THREE IN THE MORNING), we headed to the beach. Since J fell asleep on the way, we just drove up the coast and killed time so he could catch up on some sleep.
Pretty ocean...
When he woke up we headed to Laguna Beach.
J liked the sand but literally ran away screaming when a larger wave broke on the shore and the water came towards him. I can understand how that would be scary - I forgot how loud the ocean was!
Heading back from the beach we saw these snow-covered mountains - how funny.
Before dinner we hung out outside and J played on his new favorite toy - this little ATV thingy. He liked it so much that we brought it home with us...and this morning before we left, he wanted to take it with us. I told him no so he gave it a hug and a kiss. Cute...but weird. Runs in the family.
A little off-roading over the basketball hoop.
"Flying" down the hill
Playing cards with Karen (nice hair dude!)
And blocks with Crystal.
Here are the 'dudes'
We ended up cutting the trip short - Jeremiah did not sleep well. He was up at 5am (or earlier) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, and also didn't nap at all. He figured out how to get out of the pack n' play as well...nice. So instead of leaving Monday morning, we left Sunday morning. It was sad that we couldn't spend more time with our family but J was a mess and, to be honest, so were we. We all needed a good nights sleep. (or two or three).
On the way home we passed these windmills or whatever you call them. For some reason they really creep me out....they are so eerie looking. We passed them on the way to our destination but it was dark so you could barely see them. They were more creepy in daylight.
J fed his doggie blankie chicken nuggets for lunch - how sweet. I can just imagine what Sweet Pea will be fed...should be interesting!
